Acceptable use

You must not:

• present a matrix, a report or any other output from this service to a client, an employer, a regulator or anybody else as evidence that something meets or fails an accessibility standard;
• reproduce output alongside a mark, badge, score or grade of your own devising that implies this service reached a conclusion it did not reach;
• describe this service as having audited, certified, approved or signed off anything, in marketing or anywhere else;
• use output as the substantive basis of a published accessibility statement.

You are of course free to use the measured values as part of your own work, cited as what they are: measurements of colour pairs.

The colour-vision rendering is an approximation produced by a standard transform. You must not present it, or describe it, as what a named person, a group of people, or any individual actually sees. You must not use this service, or its output, in connection with assessing, screening, diagnosing or making claims about anyone’s vision.

You must not use output from this service to describe anyone’s colour vision as a defect, an impairment or a deficiency, or to characterise it in any pathologising way.

The service must not be used as an input to decisions in any of the following areas, whether directly or as part of a larger process:

• Medical or clinical decisions of any kind
• Legal advice, proceedings or evidence
• Financial decisions, lending or investment
• Safety-critical systems and safety signage
• Employment, recruitment and assessment
• Credit scoring or credit decisions
• Housing decisions
• Judicial or law-enforcement decisions

This is a tool for judging whether two colours can be told apart in a chart or a poster. It is not built for any of the above and it has not been validated for any of them.

You must not:

• share, resell or sublicense access to an account, or use one account for several people;
• attempt to access another account, probe or attack the service, or try to get round rate limits or plan limits;
• scrape, mirror or systematically extract the service or its output in order to build a competing product;
• use the service in a way that breaks the law, or that infringes anyone else’s rights;
• submit anything to the text field that is unlawful, abusive or someone else’s personal data.

The text field is for saying where your colours are going. It is not a general-purpose input and there is no reason to put anything personal into it.

The service is available worldwide and is provided in US dollars (USD). You must not use it if you are subject to UK, EU or US sanctions, or if you are located in a jurisdiction those sanctions prohibit us from supplying, and you must not re-export access to anyone who is. If sanctions law prevents us from supplying you, we will stop and refund any period you have paid for and cannot use.

We will normally write to you first and ask you to stop. Where the breach is serious — passing output off as a compliance verdict to a third party, or a high-risk use — we may suspend or close the account immediately. Where we close an account for a breach that was not deliberate, we refund the unused part of the period.
